In April we were happy to celebrate 4 years since launching Neat Interactive. After 4 years of providing digital marketing services from our offices in Bangkok and Shanghai, we have learned a thing or two (hundred). When we first opened for business in 2012, few businesses were considering digital marketing on LINE app, WeChat app, using Facebook Ads, retargeting / remarketing, mobile ads, Sina Weibo, and Instagram.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) launched a new advert called ‘Where life rules everything’, a dream sequence of an ultra-luxe travel experience in Thailand targeted for Hong Kong tourists.

Google, the leading search engine in the world, is now planning to return to mainland China this fall after a 5 year absence.

The company’s Chinese language search engine has been working from Hong Kong since 2010, after a series of cyber-attacks that were linked to the Chinese government. After that episode Google said it would stop censoring search results in China. As a result Google’s availability in China was severely curtailed.

It seems that in a new deal, Google will need to shut down apps that  do not meet government regulations. The Internet giant has been working with the Chinese government to create a customized version of its Google Play mobile app. In doing so the firm would be able to capture some of the huge smartphone audience that currently downloads apps via a number of other app stores.

The internet is abuzz with rumors that Alibaba will acquire Sina. There has been a rally in the Sina stock in the US on these rumors. There are naysayers though, saying that any such acquisition, if actually happening, probably wouldn’t happen until after November as Alibaba is too busy now preparing for Single’s Day, 11/11, in China. An Alibaba acquisition of Sina would leave Tencent, Baidu, and Alibaba as the big 3 internet giants in China.
